Sample Newsletter February 2005 Professor Trewavas of Edinburgh University is on the march again! Professor Trewavas of Edinburgh University is on the march again. (see “Can we trust the Experts?” by Walter Yellowlees, Newsletter March 2002). The Professor, who is known for his stand against Organic Farming, claims in the Dundee Courier (29.03.04) that chemicals allowed to be used on organic crops were much more dangerous to health than many of the small amounts of chemicals used by conventional farmers. In view of the huge increase in the demand all over the U.K. for organically grown food, the public obviously don’t believe that and it makes one wonder where the source of his information came from. Furthermore, the article goes on to say that Professor Trewavas believes that low doses of chemicals can actually protect humans against certain diseases and cites low doses of dioxin as a protector against cancer. I am sure that Viktor Yushchenko, the newly elected Ukrainian President, would be delighted to know that whilst he might die of dioxin poisoning, he can rest assured that cancer will never kill him.
