The New Zealand Box for Garden Compost A means of making compost is an essential in any garden and by using a New Zealand box as featured above, ordinary kitchen waste and weeds from the garden can be converted to compost in about 18 months. Anything that has ever lived will compost down but meat and fish scraps should be excluded as these attract vermin. The box should be covered with an old carpet or similar to keep the birds off and to hold in the heat but which can be easily removed for the daily addition of waste.
